Leith is one of Edinburgh's most characterful neighbourhoods and a fantastic location for a pre-wedding photo shoot. With its historic waterfront, colourful streets, industrial heritage, and unique atmosphere, it offers a completely different feel from Edinburgh's Old Town while still providing plenty of beautiful backdrops for natural couple photography.

This session took place on one of those crisp but sunny Edinburgh days when the weather seems determined to show off its best side. The light was beautiful, the skies were clear, and we spent a relaxed afternoon exploring some of the locations that were meaningful to this lovely couple.

One of the places they wanted to include was the historic Victoria Swing Bridge, the distinctive blue bridge that has become a recognisable landmark in Leith. It holds special memories for them and was the perfect place to begin their pre-wedding photo session. I always encourage couples to choose locations that have personal significance, as it helps create photographs that feel authentic and uniquely theirs.

As we wandered through the area, they shared stories about some of their favourite spots in Leith, including a local pub where they enjoy spending time together and playing Scrabble. These personal connections are what make engagement and pre-wedding sessions so enjoyable. Rather than simply creating portraits, we capture a small chapter of a couple's story.

My pre-wedding sessions are included with many of my wedding photography collections and provide a wonderful opportunity for couples to become comfortable in front of the camera before their wedding day. The sessions are relaxed, informal, and focused on genuine interaction rather than awkward posing.

A few months after this shoot, I had the pleasure of photographing their wedding celebration at Assembly Roxy in Edinburgh, making these photographs an even more meaningful part of their story.
