Assembly Roxy is one of Edinburgh’s most unique wedding venues, full of character, atmosphere, and creative energy. Located in the heart of the city, this historic building is perhaps best known as a performance venue during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, but it also provides an incredible setting for couples looking for something a little different for their wedding day.

From the moment I arrived, I knew this would be a celebration to remember. The dramatic interiors, soaring ceilings, arched windows, and beautiful architectural details gave the venue a grand yet welcoming feel. It’s a space that perfectly combines history, personality, and a vibrant city-centre location.

The day itself was packed with laughter, emotion, and fantastic energy from start to finish. Family and friends filled the venue with warmth and excitement, creating the kind of atmosphere that makes documentary wedding photography so rewarding. There were heartfelt moments during the ceremony, plenty of laughter throughout the day, and a packed dance floor that kept the celebrations going well into the evening.

One of the things I loved most about photographing this wedding was how naturally everything unfolded. As an Edinburgh wedding photographer, my approach is relaxed and unobtrusive, allowing couples to enjoy their day while I capture the real moments as they happen. From quiet glances and happy tears to spontaneous laughter and wild dance floor moves, every part of the story becomes part of the final collection.
