This was such a happy autumn wedding at Dunglass Estate, surrounded by close family, friends and beautiful East Lothian countryside. Dunglass is a wonderful place for a wedding, with the historic Collegiate Church, old stone buildings, open grounds and that lovely feeling of being tucked away in the landscape. In autumn, the colours and softer light make it feel even more atmospheric. The whole day felt warm and relaxed, with lots of laughter, hugs and genuine emotion. Their dog was part of the celebrations too, looking very smart in a little red bow tie and naturally becoming one of the stars of the day. I photographed everything in my usual documentary way, quietly following what was happening and letting the day unfold naturally. Alongside all the real moments, we also made time for a few relaxed portraits around the grounds. What I like about Dunglass Estate is the variety it gives you without needing to go far. The church, gardens, countryside and historic buildings all create different backgrounds, while the couple can still stay close to their guests and enjoy the celebration. For me, this wedding was really about the happiness between the couple and the people around them. That is always what I want the photographs to hold onto — not just how the day looked, but how it felt.
Before their wedding, we had already spent some time together during a relaxed couple session at Beecraigs Country Park. It was lovely to photograph them again later at their Dunglass Estate wedding and see the story continue.
