Traquair House Wedding – A Historic Gem in the Scottish Borders
Traquair House in Innerleithen, just a short drive from Edinburgh, is an incredible wedding venue that combines centuries of history with stunning natural surroundings. As a documentary Scotland wedding photographer, I love capturing weddings in places that offer both character and charm—and Traquair delivers on every level.
This historic house is surrounded by picture-perfect backdrops, including the iconic Traquair Maze, Cupid’s Garden, the Walled Garden, and the enchanting Yew Tree Circle. The Yew Tree Circle is a particularly magical spot—hidden in the woodland behind the maze, it’s formed by some of Scotland’s oldest yew trees. It was here that this wonderful couple chose to exchange vows in an intimate outdoor ceremony, embraced by nature and their closest loved ones.
From the heartfelt ceremony to the joyful laughter throughout the day, the atmosphere was full of warmth and happiness. As a documentary wedding photographer in Scotland, it’s always a joy to photograph genuine moments like these—unposed, emotional, and timeless. I’m always thrilled to return to Traquair House for weddings!
