Wedding photography takes me or better said lets me travel to new places around Edinburgh and far beyond. It is always a possibility to discover Scotland more and more. I actually feel very lucky to be based as a wedding photojournalist in Scotland, in Edinburgh. The variety of venues that Scotland, the surroundings areas of Edinburgh offer is amazing. There are cosy little places, amazing Scottish castles, private mansions and farms with that rustic feeling.I like the feel of each of them. Each venue has a different mood and that gives my wedding photos a variation.
No wedding is the same. Each day is unique to the couple, their guests, their personalities. I happen to enter their lives just for one day, but it is a very special day. My goal is always to tell a story, to show the day as it happened, to document that very special event that gathers all the family and friends arriving from far away. It is one big party they everyone wants to enjoy. I approach every event as an observer which is significant for reportage wedding photography. I am the photojournalist, the wedding photojournalist that captures the real moments and emotions.
I really appreciate being each couple's wedding photographer, especially when I get recommended by the couples I photographed for. It is really a great way of showing that you did a great job!
This lovely couple chose the Overhailes Farm for their ceremony. The farmhouse is located in a scenic countryside. It is not far from the river Tyne and Hailes Castle.
It was a lovely winter day, rather cold but with a nice sunset by the end of the day.
The area around the farm had an idyllic and rural feel. It felt almost like going for a weekend getaway! No streets full of cars and noise. Quite often going to such unique venues makes me feel like travelling in time, like changing the dimensions. This is also the fact what I love about weddings, the diversity.
The shots that I took there were influenced by nature and the positive, relaxed energy that filled the air around. All the happy faces of guests arriving in to the heated marquee, the good band music and that good feeling that is always there at each wedding celebration.
