Couple Photo Session at Arthur's Seat & Salisbury Crags, Edinburgh

Edinburgh has so many different landscapes within one city, and the area around Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags is one of my favourites.

This couple photo session took place around the lower part of Arthur's Seat, below Salisbury Crags, with beautiful views across Holyrood Park and towards the Edinburgh skyline. You don't have to climb all the way to the top to find fantastic places for photographs. There is so much variety here — rocks, long grass, hills, open paths and wide views across the city. It feels completely different from the historic streets and architecture of Edinburgh's Old Town, even though you're still right in the city. It's a place I know well and always enjoy coming back to, whether I'm photographing a couple or simply going for a walk.

A natural couple photo session in Edinburgh - for couple photography, I like the contrast between the smaller, more sheltered areas around the rocks and the big open spaces overlooking Edinburgh. We can walk, stop when we find beautiful light or a great view, and create a mixture of natural portraits and spontaneous photographs along the way. The wind can also become part of the photographs — especially with long grass and windswept hair — although this is a very open part of Edinburgh, so the weather does make a difference. This session was photographed around that lower area, using the rocks, grass and views towards the Edinburgh skyline as the backdrop. If you love natural landscapes but still want your photographs to feel connected to Edinburgh, Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags are a wonderful choice for a couple photo session.
