Calton Hill Wedding Portraits in Edinburgh

Calton Hill is one of Edinburgh's most iconic locations for wedding portraits. Just a short walk from the city centre, it offers breathtaking panoramic views across Edinburgh, including Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh Castle and the city's historic skyline. It's easy to see why so many couples choose Calton Hill after their wedding ceremony. Although there is a short walk to the top, the views are well worth the effort. The hill offers a wonderful variety of backdrops, from the famous National Monument and Dugald Stewart Monument to open grassy areas overlooking the city.

One of the things I love most about photographing at Calton Hill is that no two visits are ever the same. The changing Scottish weather, different seasons and constantly shifting light create a completely different atmosphere every time. Whether it's a bright summer evening, dramatic clouds rolling across the skyline or soft mist hanging over the city, the landscape always feels unique.

For this couple, the light couldn't have been more beautiful. A gentle layer of mist softened the city below while the evening light created a calm, romantic atmosphere. We took our time exploring the hill, creating relaxed wedding portraits that reflected both the incredible surroundings and the excitement of their wedding day.

If you're planning a wedding in Edinburgh, Calton Hill is one of the city's most spectacular locations for natural wedding portraits. It's also a wonderful place for engagement sessions, anniversary photographs and couple photo shoots throughout the year.
